LAST POEM
Nothing more awaits me
Down this path, proven false
And where it all began
Here it all shall end

No more poems
Of an angel I love
No more pleas
From this tortured soul
No more tears
Over forsaken love
No more poems
After this last one

For eight summers
You've been in my heart
Through rainstorms and perils
I've held onto you

My life, my love
My poems, my songs
All for you, my angel
Can you not see

With you to love
I am nothing

My reason for getting up
My reason for trying
My reason to live
It is all gone now

For eight summers
It has been like this
But this love inside me
Will not see another

Oh to turn back time
To the days of joy
Which we shared
Days of love, days of passion
Days of happiness

To see the moonlight
Upon your beautiful face
To kiss your soft cheek
To caress you as we fall asleep

All a dream now
A silly hope of mine
Dreaming of a perfection
Which doesn't exist

Though I have walked
A thousand miles for you
Down these paths of darkness
It is not time

Time for me to turn
And trek towards the light
You must be with your own
And I must be with mine
Even though I love

For the sake of you and I
I must forget
This hopeless love of mine
That eats me up inside

And so I say farewell
To my angel, my love
May your future be bright
Full of joy and love

And I bid farewell
To my love for you
May it die a quick death
Though I know it will not

I can't say we'll remain friends
For it is so difficult
To sit beside you now
When I know that never
Can we be together

So I say farewell
And I promise you this
No more poems
No more tears

No more of this
