A Fork
(Dec 12th, 2004)

A winter's night
A road lies before me
The darkness swallows all light
And all the hope within me

Suddenly a fork appears
Left or right I wonder
One leads to my destination
The other to my death

Which is which I wonder
As the darkness tightens its grip
No road signs to show me
No people to ask directions

I try to stop and think
But the brakes are not working
I speed ever closer
Trying to choose left or right

On a winter's night
No one to guide me
Left or right
Which is my path

One is rocky
Many turns, many twists
The other is smooth
And straight as an arrow

To reach my destination
Which should I choose
Left or right
Which is the path for me
