CANDLE
A single candle
Lighting the darkness
Lighting the depths of my soul
Showing me my way
Until, with a flash
And a whimper so soft
The candle goes out
Smothered by doubt
And without my candle
My feet go awry
I trip and fall
Taking others into the dark
And though I have a match
Hiding in my pack
I cannot see to find it
Nor do I have the strength to light it
So in the darkness I'll remain
Cold and broken on the floor
Others lying all around
In darkness, in shadow
Until the day dawns
When another will come
To drag a match from my pack
And light my single candle
A single candle
Lighting the darkness
Lighting the depths of my soul
Showing me my way
Until, with a flash
And a whimper so soft
The candle goes out
Smothered by doubt
And without my candle
My feet go awry
I trip and fall
Taking others into the dark
And though I have a match
Hiding in my pack
I cannot see to find it
Nor do I have the strength to light it
So in the darkness I'll remain
Cold and broken on the floor
Others lying all around
In darkness, in shadow
Until the day dawns
When another will come
To drag a match from my pack
And light my single candle
